A Letter from Our Chairman

Hello Gamecocks!

The Fall has returned, and the Vocal Alumni of Jacksonville State University are ready for another
great season. As a 08’ vocal alumnus of the David L. Walters Music Department, I remember enjoying the campus and eager to learn more about my craft while seeking funding to continue my education from High School. I would not be where I am today if not for the advice from JSU faculty, structure from my family, and monetary contributions from people I will probably never see in this lifetime, but I am grateful to them. I take this responsibility to offer you an opportunity to donate any amount toward the JSU Vocal Alumni Concert Series (JSU VACS). Join the JSU Alumni and contribute toward the educational development of a student who needs your help! We have received $700-$800 from last year’s contributions and we are seeking the same for this year. Our goal is $1,300. This small amount covers three days worth of musical events including: a Masterclass in constructive criticism for voice students, the Richard Armstrong Vocal Competition which includes a monetary award, and the Alumni Concert for the students performed by alumni of JSU. JSU VACS can receive your donations by internet at “JSU Foundation“on the JSU Website and a tax deduction slip is sent to you from the JSU Foundation. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on Nov. 2, 2012 Friday at 1:45pm for the Masterclass in the David L. Walters Music Department, Nov. 3, 2012 Saturday at 1pm for the second annual Richard Armstrong Vocal Competition in the David L. Walters Music Department and on Nov. 4, 2012 Sunday at 6pm for the second annual Alumni Concert featuring the winner of the competition at 6pm in the First United Methodist Church of Anniston, AL. ($10.00 entrance fee for adults, $5.00 for students w/ID). Go GAMECOCKS!!!
